| Karen Mary DeCisero | Leominster, Mass | Passed away May 13, 2009 passed in her sleep to the great beyond. | Karen was born, raised, lived and "LOVED HER LIFE" in Leominster, MA. Though born with Downs Syndrome, Karen refused to have her life defined by it. She realized the full potential of her life and acted as a beacon of hope to all who knew her. Her independent spirit and joy for life would carry her far beyond what the experts of the day said she would be able to do. She was a proud graduate of Leominster High School, Class of 1998. She went on to realize the dream of having her own apartment and worked as an office aide at Johnny Appleseed Elementary School (1992 JFK award winner). She competed in the Special Olympics as a swimmer, played in the Challenger Little League, performed in cheerleading and dance competitions, and was the LHS Field Hockey Manager. An accomplished singer, avid dancer and frequent moviegoer, Karen was always the life of the party, even if it wasn't her birthday. |
