Evelyn M. (Bromborsky)
Tata, 87, of Leominster, died Thursday,
March 14, 2013, in HealthAlliance
Hospital/Leominster.
Evelyn was born in Maplewood, NJ on
June 3, 1925, daughter of Oscar and Marie (Schoenwisner)
Bromborsky and lived in Leominster since
1946.
She had worked in the office at the
Leominster Trade School for 20 years and
then worked in the Assessors’ Office at
Leominster City Hall.
Evelyn was a member of St. Anna
Parish, the Daughters of Isabella, the Sons
of Italy, the Sons of Italy Bowling League
and Friends of Sholan Farm. She was an avid
Boston Red Sox, Boston Celtics and New
England Patriots fan.
She is survived by her four sons, John
R. Tata, Jr. and wife, Janet, Kenneth J.
Tata and wife, Karen, Stephen M. Tata and
wife, Sally, Brian R. Tata and wife,
Margaret all of Leominster; eight
grandchildren, Eric Tata, Kristen Bruneau,
Chad Tata, Adam Tata, Sarah Tiernan, Shauna
Tata, Jim Tata and Stacey Tata; and 10
great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by
her husband, John R. Tata in 1999 and her
brother, Oscar W. Bromborsky, Jr. in 1997.

Dick Dandini, 75, of Leominster, died
Saturday, March 16, 2013, HealthAlliance
Hospital/ Leominster.
Richard was
born on July 17, 1937, in Leominster, son of
the late Florindo and Angelina (Casacca)
Dandini. He graduated from Notre Dame High
School in 1956 and then from Northern
Michigan College in 1962. He was a student
athlete and was crowned King of the Campus.
He was employed as a school teacher at
Carter Jr. High School and Leominster High
School, retiring as Director of Facilities
of the Leominster School System.
Richard leaves his former wife, Deanna
(Romano) Dandini; his daughter, Lori Gitto
and her daughters, Gianna, Isabella and
Francesca; his son, Steven Dandini and wife,
Melanie (Dougherty) Dandini and their sons,
Nico, Santino and Gaetano, all of
Leominster. He also leaves a sister, Mary
Ann (Dandini) DeAmicis; and many nieces and
nephews. He was preceded in death by a son,
Richard Dandini Jr.; three brothers, Peter,
Florindo and Domenic and two sisters, Connie
Zichelli and Lucille Norton.
A funeral mass will be held at a later
date.

Emile S. Johnson

Emile S. Johnson, Sr., 99 years old, of 11 Notre Dame
Street, Leominster and formerly of Stuart, FL died peacefully
Wednesday, September 30, 2009 at his daughter's home. He is
survived by his wife of 73 years, Charlotte F. (Hauler) Johnson,
his son Emile S. Johnson, Jr. and his wife Susan of Athol, his
two daughters, Charlene F. Diller and her husband Ralph of
Leominster and Nancy F. Wood and her partner William Ploskina of
Herndon, VA, eight grandchildren, Edward Snyder, Debra Perla,
Brendan Johnson, Christa Cobanov, Kelly Diller, Jay Diller,
Calvin Wood, Jr., and Jaclyn Gobuluk, a step grandson Nicholas
Curelop, and three great grandchildren, Nicholas Perla, Tiffany
Perla and Lilly Gobuluk. He was predeceased by his three
brothers, William Johnson, Leonard Johnson and Hilding Johnson
and his sister Mildred Ela.
Mr. Johnson was born in Wesson, WI on April 11, 1910, son
of Samuel and Lilly (Rosendahl) Johnson and had lived in
Leominster most of his life. He graduated from Worcester Boys
Trade and Fitchburg State College. He received his master’s
degree from Fitchburg State College and did graduate work at
Boston University. He is a member of the Fitchburg State College
Athletic Hall of Fame, where he excelled for four years in
soccer, basketball, and baseball. He had been the Director of
the Leominster Trade High School for many years, before retiring
in 1974. He was also the Director of Occupational Education in
Leominster for several years. He was a member of The Village
Church in South Lancaster, where he was active in all areas of
church affairs. Mr. Johnson was a member of the Massachusetts
Retired Teachers Association. He was former chairman of the
American Red Cross in Leominster and taught swimming and CPR for
the Red Cross over the years. He was a former member and past
president of the Leominster Rotary Club. He was the coach of the
Leominster Babe Ruth League All-Star Team, formerly called
"Little Bigger League," which won the Massachusetts State
Championship in 1952.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, October 5, 2009
at 10 AM in the Silas F. Richardson & Son Funeral
Home, 106 West Street, Leominster. Burial will be in Evergreen
Cemetery, Leominster. Calling hours will be held on Sunday,
October 4, 2009 from 4-8 PM in the funeral home. In
lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to either The
Village Church Restoration Fund, 75 Sawyer St., South Lancaster,
MA, 01561 or Diversified Home Services-Hospice Program, 25

Charlotte F. (Hauler) Johnson
Charlotte F. (Hauler) Johnson, 93 years old, of 11 Notre
Dame Street, Leominster and formerly of Stuart, FL died
peacefully Tuesday, October 13, 2009 at her daughter's home. She
is survived by her son Emile S. Johnson, Jr. and his wife Susan
of Athol, her 2 daughters, Charlene F. Diller and her husband
Ralph of Leominster and Nancy F. Wood and her partner William
Ploskina of Herndon, VA, her brother Charles Hauler of
Fitchburg, 8 grandchildren, Edward Snyder, Debra Perla, Brendon
Johnson, Christa Cobanov, Kelly Diller, Jay Diller, Calvin Wood,
Jr., and Jaclyn Gobuluk, a step grandson Nicholas Curelop, and 3
great grandchildren, Nicholas Perla, Tiffany Perla and Lilly
Gobuluk. She was predeceased by her husband of 73 years, Emile
S. Johnson, Sr., on September 30, 2009. She was also predeceased
by 3 sisters, Lydia Dalton, Dorothy Oulton and Priscilla Seay
and 3 brothers, Herbert Hauler, Robert Hauler and Henry Hauler.
Mrs. Johnson was born in Fitchburg, on September 17, 1916,
daughter of Michael and Lydia (Krauss) Hauler and had lived in
Leominster for the past 73 years. She graduated from Fitchburg
High School in 1935. She was a long time member of the Village
Church in South Lancaster and was very active in the church's
Children's Programs. Charlotte was a talented pianist and she
passed on her love of music to her family. She took great pride
in taking care of her family and she loved to bake. She was the
ultimate homemaker.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 15,
2009 at 11 AM in the Silas F. Richardson & Son Funeral Home, 106
West Street, Leominster. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery,
Leominster. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, October 15,
2009 from 9-11 AM in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers

Leon "Huck" Hannigan
1931 - 2006
Former LHS head football coach and
athletic director Leon A. Hannigan died unexpectedly June 26, 2006 at
HealthAlliance-Leominster Hospital.
He was 75.Hannigan was born in
Leominster and had lived in the area most of his life, graduating from
LHS in
1948 and from Worcester Academy in 1949. He was on the
undefeated and unscored football team at Worcester Academy. He later
received his bachelor's degree from Springfield College and a master's
degree from Worcester State College. He served in the U.S. Army during
the Korean War.
"Huck," as he was known to friends and players, coached
the Blue Devils for 11 seasons from 1965 to 1975 during
which he compiled a 77-23-2 record for a .754 winning
percentage. Two of his teams went undefeated and won the
Central Massachusetts Division 1 Super Bowl. His first
victory came over Chicopee Comprehensive 13-0 in 1973,
followed by a win over Chicopee 13-7 (2 OT) in 1974.
In
1976 Hannigan took over the head coaching job at
Marlborough High School where he resurrected a moribund
program and took the Panthers to two bowl games, winning
the first in 1979 over Doherty 30-18 and losing to the
same team 14-12 the following year. His coaching
successes earned him a spot in the Massachusetts
Football Coaches Hall of Fame and the Marlborough High
School Hall of Fame.
Before taking the athletic
director and head football coaching duties at LHS, Hannigan
taught and coached football at Newburyport High School then
at Vernon Verona Sherrill High School in Verona, N.Y. He
later was athletic director, head football coach and
director of the activity center at St. Bernard's High
School.
Hannigan is survived by his
children, Michael J. Hannigan, Sheila Markham, Michelle
Erickson, Colleen Hannigan, Leslie Hannigan and Kelly Hoppe;
his brother, James A. Hannigan; his sister, Marjorie J.
"Midge" Bovenzi and nieces and nephews. His sister, Marie J.
Antonucci, died in 1997.
Burial was in Evergreen
Cemetery.

Mr. Robert
C. Brennan
1938 - 2005 |
Robert C. Brennan, 67, died Dec. 28, in Leominster,
after an illness.
He was born in Worcester on Jan. 11, 1938, the son
of Norman P. and Hazel D. (Paquette) Brennan and had lived in Leominster
most of his life.
Mr. Brennan was an educator for 37 years before
retiring in 1998. He taught for two years in Shelburne Falls and then
taught in the history department for 35 years in Leominster, first at
Carter Junior High School and then at Leominster High School.
Mr. Brennan is survived by his wife of 38 years,
Christine L. (Ethier) Brennan; a son, Paul C. Brennan, of Leominster; a
daughter, Elizabeth A. DeMille, of Westford; a brother, Norman P. Brennan
and a sister, Patricia A. Boucher Schofield, of Leominster; two
grandchildren; and three step-grandchildren. |
